Summer yachting season in full swing
LAST week proved to be busy once again for Lerwick Harbour, with the yachting season in full swing and a number of other vessels arriving.
With summer upon us, a good number of sailors are arriving with their yachts. Lerwick Harbour typically saw 20 yachts in at any one time, usually from Norway or Sweden.
As well as the yachts, a number of recreational diving support vessels came into berth.
The British Halton arrived at Alexandra Wharf last Friday from Faroe.
On Sunday the Valkyrie came in to Lerwick as well, while the Jean Elaine berthed at Victoria Pier.
The massive barge that has been at the harbour left on Thursday, bound for the North West Hutton field to help carry out offshore decommissioning work.
Liners continue to make Lerwick a port of call. On Friday the Italian Costa Victoria arrived from Kirkwall at Breiwick. She had to berth at Breiwick because she was too big to get into the shallower waters nearer the harbour.
Meanwhile, the Dutch liner Maasdam is due to arrive in Shetland today.
