Possible deal for Sullom Voe
SULLOM Voe oil terminal could benefit from an intake of oil if tentative talks with Chevron come to fruition in future years.
Shetland North councillor Alastair Cooper joined forces with general manager of ports and harbour operations Jim Dickson for discussions in Aberdeen recently with officials from the oil firm.
The intake would come from the Rosebank-Lochnagar project – a huge prospective oil and gas field just 78 miles off Eshaness.
Speaking at the SIC’s harbour board meeting last week, Mr Cooper said there was a possibility oil harvested following the three year drilling programme could be brought to the Shetland terminal.
“There is some proposal some of the oil involved will be coming to Sullom Voe,” he said.
The SIC will maintain discussions with Chevron over the course of the drilling period.
