Curfew for BB pistol shooter
A TEENAGER who fired a BB air pistol at people from a moving car was branded a dangerous person by a sheriff on Wednesday as he was placed on a seven-night-a-week curfew for six months.
Unemployed Scott Leask, 18, of Ladies Drive, Lerwick, just missed a two-year-old child in a pram on Commercial Road during his shooting antics in town on 30th June as well as targeting friends and signs at the Esplanade.
At Lerwick Sheriff Court his lawyer, Greer McRoberts, asked for a psychiatric report to assess Leask’s mental health problems which were said to include oppositional defiant disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Sheriff Graeme Napier denied the request. He told Leask his behaviour had been “a ridiculously reckless act” and he was concerned to hear that Leask had gone to get a second BB gun because his old one was not working. “He’s clearly a dangerous person,” he said.
Leask was ordered to be tagged and must stay at home between the hours of 7pm and 6am for the next six months or face going to prison.
