Bryan and Violet’s CD

A NEW CD by fiddler Bryan Gear and pianist Violet Tulloch, entitled Kebister Head, will be launched on 4th December.

Described by Aly Bain as “one of Shetlands finest young fiddle players”, Bryan has been entertaining audiences and inspiring young and old players in concerts, workshops and festivals for many years.

Bryan and Violet have appeared on many compilation CDs but this is the first time that fans and friends will be able to appreciate a full 15 tracks. Kebister Head was named after a tune composed by Bryan’s late grandfather Bobby Peterson, a fiddler who had a significant influence on his playing. The tracks reflect Bryan’s love of all good traditional styles and tunes, from Shetland through to Canadian reels, hornpipes and of course waltzes.

Bryan and Violet have had a very busy year, performing at events such as the sell-out Celtic Connections Shetland concert in Glasgow in January and many individual concerts, providing workshops at Fiddle Frenzy. They recently returned from a successful appearance at the Cape Breton Celtic Colours festival in Nova Scotia.

Guesting on the CD is Jack Robertson on double bass and guitar. Less well known outside Shetland he is an extremely popular musician who has appeared in many concerts and dances at home.

The CD will be available in local music shops and many of the country shops.
