Pair appointed to honorary roles to help develop university
Two Shetland residents are among eight new honorary research fellows appointed to aid the development of the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands which includes Shetland College.
Brian Smith, archivist with the SIC since 1976 and now based in the new museum and archive building in Lerwick, and Deborah Lamb, archaeologist, tourist guide and occasional Shetland College UHI tutor, will boost UHI’s research strength.
Professor Chris Morris, the UHI chairman in archaeology, said: “All the new research fellows are looking forward to being part of a wider research network throughout the Highlands and Islands, and to contributing to the strategy to develop archaeology and cultural heritage studies and research as a distinctive aspect of UHI’s mission to the region it serves. We see great potential for future collaboration in a range of projects.”
