Steady flow of harbour traffic

There was a steady stream of activity in the harbour this week.

Arriving on Friday, the fisheries protection vessel Hirta came in, as did the fisheries research ship the Alba Na Mara, which came in for the weekend and left on Monday.

The Norwegian reefer the Silver Bergen came in on Monday to pick up frozen fish from Shetland Catch, destined for St Petersburg.

The Swan Diana, a Cayman Islands bulk carrier, also arrived on Monday with a shipment of salt for the roads.

There were also quite a few oil related arrivals, the largest of which was the dive support vessel the Orelia, which arrived on Sunday.

Mainly working with gear, there were also a number of fishing boats in. The familiar Shetland pelagic boats the Altaire and Adenia were in and the Ronan Ross came in on Wednesday to shelter ahead of the bad weather forecast for that night. Her sister ship the Sarah David was also expected.
