Race organiser hopes for more contestants

This year’s Simmer Dim Half Marathon will be held on Sunday 21st June.

The race will be held over the same course as last year and organiser Paul Woods is hoping for an even better turnout.

He said: “Last year we achieved 63 entries and 43 people ran the full race. This year I am hoping for 100 entries which will also be the race limit.

“I would encourage people to get involved and even consider a team entry. This is an ideal opportunity for organisations to get together with a common cause, train and enjoy the challenge.”

Entry for this years race is £14 (£12 for Scottish Athletics members). T-shirts will be an optional extra and can be ordered along with entries for £6. Entrants must be over 18.

Entry forms will be available from Shetland Recreational Trust leisure centres, online from the Shetland Amateur Athletics Club website at www.shetlandaac.org.uk or from Paul Woods by contacting him on 07799 567416 or email at [email protected] Help with developing a training programme can be sought from fitness advisers at the Apex fitness centre at Clickimin, or there are a wealth of programmes available for all levels of runner on the internet.
