Junior inter-county football squad chosen

With little over two weeks to go until the junior inter-county the coaches of the football team have announced their final squad.

Manager Ritchie Smith said: “We have seen an excellent turnout at training and fixtures over the winter months and early season. Picking a 16-man squad has been very difficult and some very hard and tight decisions have had to be taken but we the coaches feel this 16 is the strongest and best blend of players we could call on at this time.

“Looking towards next season we hope to take a squad away again for fixtures on the mainland later this year. We will have squad training for that which again gives all junior players the opportunity to be involved and impress.”

The football match takes place in Kirkwall on Tuesday 16th June as part of Shetland’s defence of the Stuart Cup.
