Letter: No surprise

Lib Dem voters must wonder why they bothered. It would have saved time to vote directly for the Tory candidate now that there is a Liberal Torycrat government!

Those who voted Lib Dem to keep out the Tories must be rueing that decision. The only surprise about the Lib Dems going to bed with the Tories is that anyone might be surprised. The Lib Dems have previous – they went to bed just as enthusiastically with Labour in Edinburgh.

All the talk through the general election about Lib Dem philosophy and principles can now be seen as just so much guff. Philosophy and principles evaporated easily and quickly with a hint of power and a few bums on Cabinet seats.

Next time you get the chance to vote in an election, don’t confuse the Liberal Democrats with a political party with principles that they hold on to when it actually matters.
