Accounts Commission public hearing to be held at end of June

The Accounts Commission’s public hearing into the damaging crisis which has enveloped Shetland Islands Council over the past year will be held late next month.

It was confirmed today that the hearing will be in Lerwick Town Hall on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th June. A spokeswoman for the Accounts Commission said further details of the arrangements for the hearing would be confirmed shortly.

It follows a report from Audit Scotland which was heavily critical of councillors over several episodes during former chief executive David Clark’s turbulent nine-month reign.
