Forecast of severe gales forces cancellation of north boat sailings

Tonight’s NorthLink passenger sailings have been cancelled in both directions due to a poor forecast. The Hrossey was due to depart Lerwick at 7pm, but the cancellation means her next scheduled southbound sailing is due to be tomorrow at 5.30pm, going via Kirkwall.

The Hjaltland‘s next sailing to Lerwick is due from Aberdeen tomorrow at 7pm.

However both these sailings are under review and passengers are advised to check NorthLink’s website or phone 0845 6000 449 for more information.

Both freight boats, Hildasay and Helliar, have also had their sailings cancelled tonight. There is the possibility of further disruption on the freight service tomorrow and updates will follow during the day.
