Licensing board gives go-ahead for late licences at folk festival and bikers’ rally

Late licences were granted today by Shetland Islands Area Licensing Board for Shetland Folk Festival and the Simmer Dim motorcycle rally later this year.

The folk festival has been granted licences until 2am for five nights from Thursday 28th April until Monday 2nd May for the festival club at Islesburgh Community Centre.

The Simmer Dim rally, at Vidlin Farm, has had late licences until 2am for three nights on the weekend of Friday 17th June until Sunday 19th June granted. It has also been given approval for an off-licence until 10pm on the same three days.

    Wow! Funny how a pub or club can struggle to get a late licence but when it comes to the folk festival it’s a different story. I’m sure the residents of Brevik Cottages (supported housing for some of our older generation situated directly behind Islesburgh) will enjoy being kept up till after 2am with the noise…
