HMIe report backs us up (Christopher Ritch)

At the public meeting in Baltasound School on 27th January I asked SIC head of schools Helen Budge what the educational benefits for the Uyeasound bairns were if their school closed. She could not tell me.

At the council meeting on 17th May 2011 councillor Robert Henderson asked for proof that there would be
educational benefits gained by moving the bairns from Burravoe and Uyeasound. Nobody could provide any.

In Uyeasound, we have always said that there will be no educational benefit if the school is closed. Attainment figures for the two schools in the consultation paper support this.

The recent HMIe report on Baltasound proves that we are correct. There will be no educational benefit to our
bairns by closing Uyeasound School.
