Acceptable and fair? (Linsey Nisbet)

As an ex-Orcadian, now living in Shetland, I still have a huge love for my homeland and a great deal of sympathy for its needs.

I am unable, however, to understand how the present decision regarding the refit of our ferries is accepted as a fair and proper answer for both island groups.
As everyone knows, Shetland has one passenger sea route for lifeline services. Orkney has three. During the refit nine weeks, Shetland is to have the service on its one route halved so that Orkney can keep its three links. Can someone please explain to me how this is acceptable and fair?

Linsey Nisbet

Ha Ha, Linsey. What this really illustrates is the stupendous negotiating skills which Shetland Islands Council has at tis command!
