Battle of the Bands back for a third year

The popular Battle of the Bands event, contested by numerous youth bands from all over the isles and organised by Shetland Young Promoters Group, is returning for a third year.

Among the wealth of talented young musicians performing at Gulberwick Hall on Friday 30th March are bands from previous years’ events such as Casino Feet, Comet Conspiracy and Keirynn Topp, doing a duet performance with Chloe Robertson.

In addition there are a number of newer acts, some playing their debut gig, such as Hoygir, Project Jaymin, Maskarade, Peter Keay and Hannah Hastings.

There will be three judges, all experienced people in the Shetland music scene, who will decide one band/artist to be the overall trophy winner.

Singer-songwriter Topp said: “I have no doubt that the night will be amazing. The acts are always very talented and vary in different styles of music so it’s not too samey. The competition always surprises me. I’m very excited to be part of it again.”

Doors open at 6.30pm and it finishes at 11pm. It is £4 entry and is a pay at the door event. It is advisable that people wanting to attend contact their local youth club and enquire about transport, as several around the isles will be running buses  to and from the hall.
