Two men arrested following town drugs seizure
Police seized a quantity of drugs with a street value of around £2,700 last night after information was received from the public. Officers stopped a vehicle in Lerwick at 7.50pm and, after searching the vehicle and two buildings, seized a variety of tablets and suspected cannabis.
Two men aged 22 and 26 were arrested for alleged drug-dealing offences and were held in custody. They are expected to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court tomorrow.
Chief inspector Angus MacInnes of Lerwick police said: “This, as a number of other drugs seizures have been, was as a result of intelligence and information provided to the police. We would ask the public to keep telling us what they know and we will act on it.”
