Breaststroke silver for swimmer Andrea in national championships

Swimmer Andrea Strachan won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke at the British Gas Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) national championships at Sheffield last night.

In the morning heats Strachan, representing Edinburgh University, was the third fastest qualifier. In the final her personal best time of 31.81 seconds was narrowly beaten by team mate Kathryn Johnston who broke the Scottish record for this event.

Amy Harper, also representing Edinburgh University, performed well in the morning heats of the 200m freestyle as did Delting Dolphins’ Felix Gifford in the 200m butterfly.

Today Harper was due to compete in the heats of the 100m freestyle and tomorrow will see Strachan in the 100m breaststroke and Harper in the 50m freestyle.
