Helicopter scrambled to search for missing man

The coastguard helicopter was scrambled last night after a man was reported missing in Lerwick.

The Sumburgh-based aircraft assisted police as a search lasting approximately 40 minutes was carried out at the Knab area of the town. However the man was later found safe and well.

The search came after the helicopter returned from airlifting an injured crewman from a French fishing vessel 100 miles north east of Unst.
The man suffered injury onboard the Andre Le Duc.

He was airlifted to the Clickimin landing site before being transferred to the Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment.
