Hjaltland Housing Association enlists tenants’ help in launch of new website

Hjaltland Housing Association has launched a new website produced by Lerwick-based NB Communications.

When the association decided to commission a new website, it invited a number of its tenants to be directly involved in the process.

Hjaltland housing manager Fiona Robertson said: “When we decided to develop a new website we were keen to involve tenants in every step of the process.

“We had already asked all of our tenants to let us know if they would be interested in getting involved in various areas of our work and so we contacted some of those who had expressed an interest in ‘communication’ to form a focus group to work on the website development.”

The focus group, comprising tenants, staff and a representative of the Shetland Tenants Forum, was formed and was involved from the outset of the project – from choosing the successful bid for the contract, giving input and feedback into the development and in testing the final design.

The new website is far more interactive than the previous one – tenants will now be able to request repairs, give feedback and make complaints on line, as well as access information on the services provided by Hjaltland, the One Stop Shop and other options available in Shetland.

The website is located at the same address – www.hjaltland.org.uk
