Showcase returns

The popular Shetland Showcase is back at Islesburgh Community Centre for the summer, offering a flavour of the best of Shetland culture to visitors and locals alike.

The showcase starts on Monday, from 7pm to 9.30pm, and thereafter will take place at this time every Monday during the summer months.

The event will comprise a full programme of live traditional music, and in addition folk will be able to browse around the quality local crafts for sale.

Islesburgh manager Dale Smith said: “The Shetland Showcase is a highlight of our summer season and is popular with everyone who enjoys quality local music and crafts. We pride ourselves on providing access to the best of Shetland’s heritage in an family friendly venue.”

This month’s musical acts include the duos of Maggie and Brian, who will play on Monday, and Bryan and Violet, playing the following week. They will be followed by the Heritage Fiddlers at the end of the month, with top class acts every Monday until the middle of August.
