Car fire at Tesco
Fire-fighters from Lerwick were quick on the scene after a car caught fire in the Tesco car park – a few yards from the station.
The fire service was called shortly before 12.45pm today and two appliances were sent to deal with the blaze. Crews were able to extinguish the fire using a hose
reel jet.
A fire service spokesman said the vehicle was not occupied at the time of the blaze.
In an unrelated incident at about 7.30am today three people were taken to hospital for checks following a crash at Swinister in Sandwick.
The accident involved two vehicles. Police officers and ambulance crews attended, but none of those involved suffered serious injury, a force spokesman said.
He added that one of those injured was a woman, thought to be in her 30s. She was “conscious and breathing” before being taken to hospital.
