Burra garage ransacked and money stolen
Thieves ransacked the office of a small garage business, broke into several cars and took a substantial sum of money.
Police are appealing for information following the break-in at Burra Motors Ltd Easterdale, Hamnavoe some time between 10.30pm yesterday and 11am today.
Detective sergeant Bryan Ronald said damage had been caused to the doors and windows of the premises. “Once within the culprits have ransacked the office and stole a substantial amount of money which had been collected over the festive period.
“Several cars belonging to members of this close knit community were broken into and one vehicle, a red-coloured Vauxhall Safira was stolen, driven to Lerwick and crashed on a Staney Hill track above the Hoofields area of town.”
He added that the owner was “devastated with his customers’ vehicles being tampered with.”
Police want to speak to anyone with knowledge of the incident, or anyone who was seen acting suspiciouslyin Hamnavoe, or the Hoofields area. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
