Games victory for Flaws but team misses out

Table tennis star Lynda Flaws has been in winning form this morning at the Commonwealth Games – continuing Shetland’s strong showing in Glasgow.

Flaws was competing in the team event with Scotland taking on Guyana.

In the individual element of the competition she emerged with a 3-2 victory against Nicola Cummings, while with team mate Corinna Whitaker the Scottish pair saw off Chelsea Edghill and  Trenace Lowe 3-1 to Scotland.

However , the Scottish team lost the overall tie  3-2. Flaws will also be competing in the doubles and individual events.

Her  performance comes after swimmer Andrea Strachan sealed a place in the final of the 50m breaststroke.
