Norholm towed to Orkney

A Lerwick-registered fish carrier is being towed to Scapa Flow after being involved in a major emergency off  Cape Wrath last night.

The Norholm lost engine power at about 8pm on Sunday and was drifting towards the coastline in a westerly gale.

The Stornoway coastguard helicopter was scrambled incase the crew had to abandon the vessel.

But the Lochinver lifeboat was able to hold the 32-metre vessel from the shore.

The Thurso lifeboat took over, before emergency tow vessel Herakles took her under tow.
