Weather disrupts sailings again

It has been a familiar tale throughout the week, but poor weather has brought disruption to NorthLink ferry services.

Tonight’s northbound sailing of the Hjaltland is not expected to leave Aberdeen until 4am tomorrow, or sooner if conditions allow. NorthLink say there will be no call in at Kirkwall.

She is not expected to arrive in Lerwick until approximately mid-afternoon tomorrow.

The southbound sailing is facing a similar delay. NorthLink say the Hrossey will probably not leave Lerwick until 5am tomorrow morning, unless the weather eases. She is not expected to arrive in Aberdeen until around 4pm.

Freight services, both north and south, have been cancelled.

The passenger ferry delays are likely to have a knock-on effect on tomorrow’s scheduled sailings as well, with NorthLink keeping the Kirkwall call of the southbound Hjaltland under review.

Tomorrow’s sailing of the Hildasay is scheduled to leave Aberdeen for Lerwick at 6pm, but NorthLink are warning the southbound Helliar could see her 6pm departure change.
