Man falls overboard from speedboat in Lerwick Harbour

A man managed to make it to shore safely after falling overboard from a speedboat off the North Ness in Lerwick Harbour this morning.

The coastguard was alerted of the incident at 11.45am and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

The man, whose identity is unknown, apparently managed to swim to the shore near Hay’s Dock.

A crewman from the Bressay ferry Leirna launched an inflatable and was able to tow the speedboat back to the harbour.
