Bail for sexual assault accused

A man has been released on bail on charges of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and making “sexual communications” to her and a 13-year-old at a house in Lerwick.

Michael Devine, 45, of Leslie Road, Lerwick, was ordered not to approach or contact the complainers in any way as a condition of his bail, issued at Lerwick Sheriff Court Today, where he appeared from custody.

Devine, who made no plea or declaration, was accused of assaulting the 14-year-old by touching her sexually, holding her against a wall, pulling down her leggings and attempting to put his hand down her underwear.

He is also facing charges of asking the girl and a 13-year-old girl to take a bath together while he watched and masturbated and asked them to kiss one another and of asking them to show him their underwear, give their underwear to him and give him photos of them naked.
