The police were called out to the Hoofields/Staney Hill area of Lerwick on Tuesday evening after “reports of several disturbances” were received.
Inspector Martyn Brill said they were called out between 10pm and midnight and one man was arrested and a report sent to the procurator fiscal.
Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or attend the Lerwick station.
Road policing officers are appealing for information on the fatal road accident as they name the driver as 25-year old Fraser Smith.
