Flag flown at town hall to mark Queen’s coronation
The Union flag was flown at Lerwick Town Hall on Tuesday as part of the 67th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.
It is only the second time that a flag has been flown from the town hall since lockdown was introduced back in March.
The Union flag was also flown on VE Day to mark its 75th anniversary on 8th May.

It is right and proper that Shetland, together with the rest of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth, should mark the coronation of our longest reigning monarch; especially during these testing times.
Elizabeth, our Queen, has remained true to the vows made, firstly on her twenty-first birthday in South Africa in 1947, and then on the 2nd of June 1953; to well and truly serve the people’s of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Commonwealth family of nations.
She has, and never will let us down.
Vivat Regina Elizabetha !
