More ferry disruption
NorthLink has warned of further disruption to services until Monday – with passengers being told today’s ferry sailing from Aberdeen to Shetland, via Orkney, departing early.
The Hjaltland will depart at the earlier time of 3pm, rather than 5pm, due to “forecasted adverse weather conditions”.
NorthLink said: “Arrival in Kirkwall will be subject to a delay of up to one hour. Arrival in Lerwick on Sunday will be subject to a delay of up to two hours.”
The southbound sailing of the Hrossey from Lerwick for Aberdeen remains at 7pm.
They added: “Present weather forecasts indicate the possibility of disruption to our services from Saturday 7th December until Monday 9th December.”
Freight services are also affected. The Helliar was due to sail from Aberdeen to Shetland at 6pm today, but this has been delayed to 2pm on Sunday.
The Hildasay was scheduled to depart Lerwick sailing for Kirkwall and Aberdeen at 5pm.
Due to forecasted adverse weather conditions, the call into Kirkwall is now cancelled.
The Hildasay will now sail directly to Aberdeen.
