McLean’s fine start to season
Shetland sportsperson of the year Christine McLean made an excellent start to her season with a new Scottish personal best time in the Denny Cycling Club organised Corrieri Classic 10-mile time trial.
A good field of 90 riders lined up on the popular A811 course between Cambusbarron and Kippen.
The conditions were dry with a blustery headwind out to the turn. This seemed to have little effect on Christine, and after making good use of her gears on the way back, recorded a fast time of 23:46 minutes for the event.
Christine finished first in her age group and was the second woman overall. She was only a few seconds behind the reigning 10-mile champion, which should make for an interesting and competitive season for the Shetland rider.
