Sheltered stone seat proposed for Knab viewpoint

A sheltered stone seat for Lerwick’s Knab viewpoint will be constructed if a proposal from Lerwick Community Council comes to fruition.

Funding for the £18,000 project to provide seating and two interpretive boards at the beauty spot has been approved by the community council, and planning permission for the project will now be sought.

There has been a delay in applying for this as the ownership of the site was unclear – it has now been found to be owned by the feuers and heritors.

The seating has been designed by chairman of the community council Jim Anderson. The cost of the project was queried by the community council members, who were told interpretive boards cost around £1,400 each.

Access to the Knab footpath will also be smoothed out as part of the development.
