Oil worker’s body found under platform
The body of an oil worker has been found under the North Sea platform from which he went missing.
Martin Lindsay, 51, from Cleveland, Teesside, worked on the Beryl Alpha platform, 90 miles to the south-east of Shetland. He was last seen shortly after midnight on Tuesday and the alarm was raised at 3.07am following a muster station on the platform.
Shetland Coastguard’s rescue helicopter 102 was involved in the search along with an offshore standby vessel and a fishing boat, before being stood down shortly after 8am.
The man’s body was discovered under the platform by a remotely operated submersible.
Police said on Wednesday morning that Mr Lindsay’s relatives had been informed and arrangements were being made for the recovery of the body.
