Flea to set off on isles-wide walk in aid of CLAN campaign

Councillor Allison Duncan is embarking on a “Fleathon” pushing a wheelbarrow all over Shetland in aid of the CLAN 1,2,3 campaign.

The Flea, from the Ness, was due to start his walk on Wednesday afternoon in Whalsay. He will be walking wearing a high visibility jacket and have a vehicle in support which will be driven by John Hunter in line with recommendations from the police.

Pushing  what he calls a “barrow load of money”  he will be on Fetlar on Friday, Unst on Saturday and Yell on Sunday before starting the week at North Roe and working his way back to the Ness before finally finishing in Lerwick next Saturday evening at the Town Hall, where he will be piped in by Gussie Angus.

Mr Duncan approached the local CLAN committee saying he wanted to do something because he strongly felt that this was in aid of a charity and a campaign that would benefit all of the people of Shetland.

He said that he believed that no family in Shetland had been unaffected by cancer either in their household or through family or friends. Because of this he wanted to put his shoulder to the wheel and make an effort before the Shetland campaign comes to an end.
