Police deal with drink-fuelled incidents in Lerwick town centre
Lerwick police reported a number of incidents over the weekend.
In the early hours of Saturday morning an altercation broke out between several men in licensed premises in the town centre. Following a police enquiry a number of people are to be reported to the procurator fiscal for assault and breach of the peace.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in the town centre for anti-social behaviour, also in the early hours of Saturday. On Sunday at around 8pm a 29-year-old man was arrested for breach of the peace after refusing to leave a bar in Lerwick. In both cases reports are to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
There were also a number of reports of minor road traffic collisions. The police said they would like to remind the public to take suitable safety precautions while driving in wintry conditions and to ensure they fully demist and de-ice windscreens prior to travelling.
