Glasgow man, 23, kept in custody over drugs charges

A Glasgow man was remanded in custody after appearing in court on drugs charges on Tuesday. It followed the seizure by police of £28,000 worth of heroin on Monday.

Robert Bradley, 23, of the city’s Aberfoyle Street, appeared in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court on charges alleging a contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Also appearing was co-accused Amanda Cairns, 21, of the same address. Neither made any plea or declaration and both were committed for further examination.

Bradley is being held in custody until a further court appearance is held next week. His co-accused was released on bail.

Their appearance came after a man and a woman were found in Lerwick with suspected heroin.

Shetland area commander chief inspector David Bushell said the seizure was the result of a “community-led intelligence operation, and our success is a measure of the support we receive from the public and other agencies”.
