Judane top of indoor hockey league after back-to-back wins

Two wins took Judane level top of the mixed indoor hockey league while a win and a draw gave Lobbyless third place.

Judane 7, Ness 1

Both teams took the pitch unsure of the other’s capabilities and a fast-paced game began.

Judane penetrated the Ness defence with some great clearances from Maggie Kay and Susan Morrison, and within the first few minutes a great shot from Robert Smith saw them take the lead.

Ness managed to get a goal back through some good play with Maggie Kay there to finish it all off.

The scoring floodgates were then well and truly opened with Robert Smith scoring five for Judane throughout the course of the game. Ness continued to try and get something back but good defending through Indyia Bradley and Rhiannon Inkster saw off Andrea Tait and Neil Pearson’s attacks.

Ellis Robb in goals for Judane made some very crucial and great saves to keep the Ness goal tally at one.
Sakchai Makao, who had tirelessly worked for Judane, was then subbed for Connor Regan. Through some great linking play with Jessica Bradley and Robert went on to score a further two goals, leaving Ness unable to fight back.

Players of the match were Robert Smith for Judane for his continuous goal scoring and Maggie Kay for Ness for never giving up and fighting to the very last minute.

Lobbyless 1, Saracens 1

The game started evenly with both teams pressing forward and it was not long before Rowan Nicholson of Lobbyless scored on her debut with a well-placed shot, following a cross down the right by Haydn Thomason.

Lobbyless continued to press forward, causing trouble to the Saracens defence with linked attacks from Michael Gardner and Lara Thomason. The Saracens were fighting back strongly with promising attacking movements by their forwards but with strong goalkeeping from Kristoffer Thomason kept the scoring at bay.

With the Saracens still attacking strongly, Lobbyless were caught out by Donald Willmore’s shot which found the back of the net to bring the scoring level at 1-1.

Both teams tried hard for goals but were stopped by the superb defending of Gwen Malcolmson for Lobbyless and Josie Jamieson for Saracens.

Players of the match were Josie Jamieson for Saracens and Haydn Thomason for Lobbyless.

Saracens 2, Judane 3

The game started fast and furious with both teams eager to steal an early goal. The goalkeepers, Ian Manson for Saracens and Jessica Bradley for Judane, were forced to make early crucial saves and both had a busy game.

Both teams worked hard throughout the 30 minutes but Saracens could not find an equaliser so Judane came away with the three points. Scorers for Saracens were Zoe Irvine and Donald Willmore, while Robert Smith, Connor Regan and Sakchai Makao were on target for Judane.

Players of the match were Josie Jamieson for Saracens and Jessica Bradley for Judane.

Ness 2, Lobbyless 3

Lobbyless went on the attack immediately and scored early on through Rowan Nicholson.

With threatening plays from Haydn Thomason, Ness were on the back foot as Michael Gardner found the end of a pass from Thomason and fired home another for Lobbyless.

After the second goal Ness turned up their game and came thundering back with two very quick goals from Susan Morrison and debut player Robin Atkinson.

In the final minutes Lobbyless were awarded a few short corners. Unable to find the back of the net until the last hit of the game, Gardner found his second of the match to win it.

Players of the match were Robin Atkinson and Gillian Copeland for Ness and Michael Gardener for Lobbyless.
