Fog plays havoc with flights into Shetland
Sumburgh Airport was quieter than it should have been on Thursday, as thick fog prevented flights from coming in to land.
The 10.45am flight from Aberdeen was forced to divert to Kirkwall as visibility in Shetland deteriorated. The 11.20am service from Edinburgh also had to touch down at Orkney. The weather prevented it from getting any further.
Fog also brought disruption to oil-related flights at Scatsta Airport. Two helicopters flying from offshore installations had to fly to Orkney. Meanwhile, a couple of fixed wing aircraft had to turn back to Aberdeen.
