Lynsey rated north of Scotland’s number one female triathlete
Shetland triathlete Lynsey Henderson is ending the year on a high after being rated number one female in the north of Scotland.
The rankings were calculated by Triathlon Scotland, and based on the results of four sprint triathlons (750 metre swim, 20 kilometre cycle and five kilometre run). Having clocked up three wins and a fourth place, Lynsey was at the top by quite a large margin.
Having only taken up the sport a couple of years ago, Lynsey has made great strides so far and was one of the nominees in last weekend’s Shetland Sports Awards.
She said: “I’m hoping to compete at longer distances where the rankings are for the whole of Scotland. I would also like to race in an age grouping event.”
The Great Britain Age Group competition offers UK members a chance to compete at the international level in triathlon. If successful, she could represent Britain at international triathlon events. Considering her short time in the sport, without a coach or sponsor, it really highlights her potential.
Meanwhile, the Shetland Triathlon Club is continuing to hold duathlons through the winter, with the next event on Sunday 13th December. For more information please visit www.shetlandtriathlonclub.co.uk
