Total signs major deal for subsea production equipment

Total has awarded another of the big contracts for its Laggan-Tormore gas development with the multi-national FMC Technologies signing a $210 million deal to provide the subsea production equipment.

The company will manufacture a range of equipment at its bases in Dunfermline and Norway including wellheads, manifolds and subsea trees for bringing the gas up from the west of Shetland fields and into pipelines to Sullom Voe. The first equipment is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.

As reported previously, the Irish construction firm Roadbridge won the contract to build the road into the new gas plant next to Sullom Voe Terminal and to prepare the site, starting this month. The contract to manufacture the pipeline to Shetland and from Shetland out to join into the Frigg pipeline east of Shetland went to Corus in Hartlepool.
