Morally reprehensible

Alistair Carmichael should be lauded for his noble but ultimately doomed attempts in the Brown Labour government era to get some sort of price reduction for fuel in the islands.

Now that his party holds the balance of power in the government, and the fact that the energy minister is a Lib-Dem, I have a suggestion for him, which would be good for Shetland, and indeed the rest of the country.

I suggest that he has a word with the energy minister to see if anything can be done to make the fuel supplying companies take down the price of fuel as quickly as they increase it.

The level of cost presently equates roughly to when a barrel of oil was 150 U.S dollars, and it is nowhere near that cost now, so the fuel companies are simply profiteering and although they are breaking no laws (just yet), their actions are morally reprehensible.

Add to the fact that burgeoning fuel prices are the lifeblood of inflation, and remember it was exactly this factor that started off the recent recession, Mr Carmichael if he so chooses, could have a very persuasive argument. So what about it Alistair, give it a go and do us all a favour. Good luck.
