Police seized a replica handgun from an 18-year-old man in Lerwick town centre yesterday afternoon.
The incident prompted officers to warn that replica guns can cause “alarm and distress” to the public and anyone thinking of buying one should remember the possible consequences of being caught in possession in public.
A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
