Writers Hadfield and Murray to appear at Edinburgh Book Festival
Two Shetland-based writers are to appear at the Edinburgh Book Festival later this month.
TS Eliot prize-winning poet Jen Hadfield and Donald S Murray, author of The Guga Hunters, will be involved in different events on Monday 30th August.
Hadfield will appear at the Scottish Power Studio Theatre at 3.30pm alongside Rodge Glass and Eleanor Thom in a session chaired by Jenny Brown entitled “exclusive short stories by leading writers”. She will read a piece of non-fiction on the theme “Elsewhere” commissioned by the festival.
At 8.30pm, Murray will appear at the same event in conversation with Will Self in a session entitled “fresh perspectives on St Kilda on the 80th anniversary of the evacuation”.
Murray’s last book was reviewed by Self in The Daily Telegraph and he said: “I feel immensely lucky to be appearing with Will Self at Edinburgh Book Festival, and I am looking forward to the event with great excitement.”
Murray is also looking forward to the imminent publication of his newest book And On This Rock: Italian Chapel, Orkney, which is due off the presses in September and will be launched in Edinburgh at 7.30pm on 1st October in the Italian delicatessen Valvona and Crolla on Elm Row.
