Presentation night
The Kathleen Grant Trophy for Shetland player of the year was announced at the Shetland Ladies Hockey Association prizegiving evening on Saturday.
It was awarded jointly to Gayle Johnson of Spurs and Maggie Irvine of Whalsay to both players’ surprise and delight. Both players have had an excellent season and were congratulated by a full room.
The top scorer of the year award went to Sarah Grogan who had accumulated 25 goals in league games this season.
Simon Skinner’s contribution to Shetland hockey was recognised and he was presented with a special umpire strip. He has umpired a total of 62 matches this season alone.
