New Mid Yell Junior High opens after teething difficulties are resolved
The new Mid Yell Junior High School opened its doors to pupils for the first time today. Lessons had been scheduled to start on Monday but officials were unable to secure a building certificate in time.
A spokeswoman for the council’s schools service said sufficient work had been undertaken to address what were described as “minor issues” to allow the building to open. The nursery department, however, will not open until it receives approval from the Care Commission.
Councillor Robert Henderson said “The whole community will be pleased that we have reached this important day. I’m confident that the outstanding matters will be dealt with as soon as possible.”
One of the days the pupils had off was taken as an occasional hoilday, scheduled for later the session, and the other was an In-Service day for staff.
