North boat cancellations likely as weather worsens again
NorthLink is warning of potential disruption to sailings over the next few days with gale force south-easterly winds forecast between later today and Friday.
It is anticipated that today’s 7pm sailings from Lerwick to Aberdeen and vice versa will proceed as normal, although the ferry may arrive early into Aberdeen tomorrow morning before harbour conditions make entry difficult.
Tomorrow night’s sailings in both directions, however, are likely to be cancelled. Thursday night’s Lerwick to Aberdeen sailing is also expected to be cancelled, although the Aberdeen to Kirkwall and Lerwick sailing is likely to proceed.
This will have a knock-on effect on Friday: with the expected cancellation of the southbound Lerwick to Aberdeen on Thursday, there would be no ship in Aberdeen, therefore the northbound sailing will be cancelled.
The Lerwick to Kirkwall and Aberdeen sailing is expected to operate as normal, leaving at 5.30pm.
