Redman + Sutherland Architects of Scalloway has scooped another commendation for Shetland in the Inverness Architectural Awards new buildings section.

The results were announced at the bi-annual regional awards ceremony in Strathpeffer on Friday night.

The award is for Iain and Suzanne Malcolmson’s own house “Grunnabreck” in Nesting. Other short-listed entrants came from Inverness, Findhorn, Brora and Skye.

A spokesman for Redman + Sutherland said: “It’’s always nice to get recognition for the hard work that goes into a successful project. Shetland does very well in the Highlands and Islands awards. It’s also good for everyone involved in the project – in particular our builders RGR of Vidlin.”

The award builds on Redman + Sutherland’s success earlier on this year in the Orkney and Shetland local awards where Grunnabreck picked up first place for the overall best new building and Mr Malcolmson’s parents’ house “Balaskerry” also picked up a commendation in the category.

In the new use for old buildings section Anderson Buildings in Scalloway, by Redman + Sutherland, and Harbour House in Lerwick, by Richard Gibson Architects, were commended.
