Ex-Marillion singer Fish to play in Shetland in September

Fish, ex-lead singer with Marillion, is set for an extensive Scottish tour in August and September – with Shetland included in the schedule. The gigs feature an acoustic based set that has already attracted fantastic reviews throughout Europe and Scandinavia.

Together with long term band members Frank Usher on guitar and Foss Paterson on keyboards, Fish will be performing songs from Marillion’s back catalogue together with material from his own solo albums.

Fish first came to prominence in 1981 as lead singer of the internationally successful rock band Marillion which enjoyed top 10 success with singles such as Kayleigh, Lavender and Incommunicado, alongside a string of hugely successful albums which saw the band catapulted to stadium level success.

In 1988 he left the band to pursue a successful solo career and has since released nine studio albums, with a new one expected sometime next year. He has also appeared in several TV series and films throughout his career.

In 2008 he was forced to take a career break when he had to be treated for a cyst on his vocal chords and due to this he was unable to perform until the summer of last year.

Now fully restored to health and vocal prowess, Fish said: “I’m really looking forward to this tour and once again getting out and about all over Scotland. The acoustic shows are different to what I’ve done before and I’ve been enjoying playing all the old songs in a new way.”

The Shetland gig of the tour will take place in the Sound Hall on Saturday 3rd September, promoted by Beyond Promotions, Inverness, in association with Atlantic Edge Music Services, Shetland.

A limited number of tickets will go on sale at High Level Music in Lerwick on Saturday 4th June from 9am.
