Shetland police chief moves on after two years
Local police chief David Bushell is to leave Shetland to take up a post in Fort William.
Chief inspector Bushell, 45, said that as yet no replacement had been identified but a promotional process was taking place and the name of the new chief inspector would be announced in the coming weeks.
Mr Bushell was previously deputy area commander in the Badenoch, Strathspey and Nairn area before coming to Shetland in 2009 to take up the post of area commander.
Based in Fort William, he will take up the role of area commander for Lochaber, Skye and Lochalsh.
He said: “I’ve been here for two years and I will miss working here, both the people here and the challenges I’ve faced.”
He said he was looking forward, however, to getting to grips with the new role, which will begin in around six weeks’ time.
