Greenhill goes after reaching deal with SIC

The council’s former executive director of infrastructure services, Gordon Greenhill, is to leave the authority tomorrow after agreeing a voluntary severance deal.

Mr Greenhill, who joined the council in 2008 after retiring early from Edinburgh City Council, was unsuccessful in applying for the new job of director of infrastructure, which went instead to Phil Crossland.

SIC chief executive Alistair Buchan said: “I’d like to thank Gordon for his contributions as executive director over the years and for his enthusiastic input into a number of important projects during this time.” 

Mr Greenhill said: “I have enjoyed working for the council and the people of Shetland, even through some of the more challenging times, and hope that the council is successful with its objectives.”

Mr Buchan said the council’s senior management re-organisation process was achieved on time over a three-month period. 

So far, the process has delivered year-on-year savings of over £700,000.  The eventual target is to deliver over £1million ongoing savings as part of the council’s overall target of saving £26 million over the next two years.
